This is a dramatization of Alice Paul’s work to bring about women’s suffrage. It does a great job of showing Paul’s passion and dedication (and style). She worked tirelessly, was very ambitious, endured prison, a hunger strike, force feeding, and conflict with the mainstream women’s movement.
The film makes some odd decisions at times, with unusual visualizations, cuts, and music that doesn’t quite fit with the 1920’s period piece. But if you can look past those distractions it is a great look at a little known activist who had a large impact.
