Iron Jawed Angels

This is a dramatization of Alice Paul’s work to bring about women’s suffrage. It does a great job of showing Paul’s passion and dedication (and style). She worked tirelessly, was very ambitious, endured prison, a hunger strike, force feeding, and conflict with the mainstream women’s movement.

The film makes some odd decisions at times, with unusual visualizations, cuts,¬†and music that doesn’t quite fit with the 1920’s period piece. But if you can look past those distractions it is a great look at a little known activist who had a large impact.
